YOUTH MINISTRY

In youth ministry we focus our attention on the younger members of our community (usually grades 6-12) to help them encounter Christ, accompany them on their faith journey invite them to be more fully engaged in the Church community, and send them forth as witnesses.

We have youth group meetings, host exciting field trips, participate in Diocesan hosted events and volunteer in service projects.  All activities are intended to foster community,m provide education and encourage prayer and worship.

Volunteers and chaperones are welcome after completion of Safe Environment (Virtus) Training.  Please visit this LINK for information on Virtus and to find training schedules.

Permission slips are required for activities occurring off campus.  Please click here for a copy.

NEW CHURCH ORGAN FUND

Music is an integral part of bringing people, parish and community together. A new organ was installed just in time for Holy Week in April 2018, and there was an initial generous outpouring of support to fund the much needed replacement. Everyone is "key" to supporting this unexpected church expense. Help enrich everyone's mass, service and church event experience by giving to the fund today. Drop your donation in a clearly marked envelope in a collection basket or mail to the parish office. Or, if you have questions regarding the fund, please feel free to contact the parish office.

A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM MSGR. JOHN PUTANO
AND rev. CHARLES OPONDA-OWORA

Welcome to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church. We invite you to join us and meet our devoted parishioners, countless volunteers and dedicated staff – all will make you feel delightfully comfortable.

At SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, we are a people who take pride in the thoughtfulness of our predecessors who founded our strong community of faith. They put in place facilities dedicated to the great glory of God. These have been maintained over the years and passed on as symbols of our rich heritage. We have a beautiful and magnificent church that speaks well of our devotions, communal and private prayer.

The participation of all in living out the mission of the Church is critical. Through this participation we are made aware of the Lord's presence and we experience His love and care in a very profound way. This participation also helps us to recognize and continue the legacy of our forefathers of maintaining and passing on the heritage of our faith to future generations. It is our deepest desire and prayer that you join us and be part of this noble cause. We hope that your time with us will be an opportunity to share our unwavering faith and the vibrant joy we have in Christ Jesus.

helping hands needed

Altar Servers:  We need men or women willing to be servers for any funerals held at St. Cyril's. We also need volunteers for Saturday Masses (4:30 p.m.).

Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers:  Adults interested in taking a more active role during Mass should consider participating as readers and/or Eucharistic ministers. Please call the parish office if interested: 724-1372.

Kitchen Help:  The ladies who prepare the funeral breakfasts or luncheons need more volunteers as they have lost several helpers. Anyone interested in helping would be more than welcome. To volunteer, call Lola Kaminsky at 724-1372.

Bereavement Committee:  We are in need of ladies or gentlemen (or husband and wife teams) to help our parishioners prepare the funeral liturgies for their loved ones. This involves the selection of readings and music. Call the church office to volunteer: 724-1372.

Choir: Our choir adds an element of beauty to the liturgy as well as encourages the congregation to sing. The church is blessed with a singing congregation and a choir whose members work hard to enhance our liturgies with the gift of song. Anyone is welcome to join the choir. No experience is necessary. We are in constant need of new members. The adult choir rehearses together with the choir of the Church of the Holy Trinity, 148 Prospect St., Binghamton, on Thursday evenings at 7 pm. Rehearsals typically last 90 minutes and the rehearsal location rotates
between the two parishes on a monthly basis. Call the church to volunteer:  724-1372.
